The man accused of trying to kill a snowmobiler on the west coast was back in provincial court this morning.
Sixty-six-year-old Wayne Hynes appeared by telephone in Stephenville provincial court from the Bishop’s Falls Correctional Centre where he’s been since being denied bail earlier this month.
An update was expected on his efforts to satisfy release conditions for bail, but there was no mention of that today.
Instead, the focus was on the disclosure, or evidence in the case, which is being forwarded to Hynes’ lawyer this week.
The Port au Port West man is charged with attempted murder, pointing a firearm, discharging a firearm and aggravated assault in connection with an incident near his house on February 21st.
Hynes is accused of shooting 26-year-old Chad Hickey as he another snowmobiler rode past Hynes’ home.
The victim reportedly continues to recover from serious head injuries.
The case has now been set over until June 5th, to give the defence time to review the evidence and ponder how to plead and proceed.
