Peace officers who died in the line of duty were remembered at a ceremony in St. John’s this morning.
In this province, 21 peace officers have died in the line of duty over the years through the RNC, RCMP, DFO and others.
Today’s ceremony was held to mark Peace Officers Memorial Day.
RNC Constable James Cadigan says the event highlights the important work that law enforcement does in this province.
He says they have lost too many peace officers in Newfoundland and Labrador, and it’s important to remember not only police officers, but those who served in wildlife, DFO and law enforcement agencies as well.
