The RNC is issuing a warning about the risks involved in end-of year field parties that have become increasingly popular in recent years.
RNC Constable James Cadigan says they have become aware of a field party planned in the Pouch Cove area this evening.
“Once we receive that information we want to get some thought processes out there to consider safety concerns around these events. These unsupervised parties, including field parties, they’re unsafe for everyone. Parents and property owners, you really need to consider the liability in the event of injury, (or) a significant injury that requires hospitalization.”
Violent attacks resulting injury have occurred at similar outdoor events in recent years, leading to charges.
Constable Cadigan says in the event of an injury or illness first responders can have trouble finding the patient in they’re in a secluded area, and with no supervision, the risk of violence or injury is greater.
