The Autism Society’s 4th annual Embracing Neurodiversity Conference takes place in St. John’s next week—an occasion to bring together people with autism, their families, caregivers, educators, and policymakers.
The conference is also one of the Autism Society’s biggest fundraisers, with proceeds supporting recreational and peer support programs in the province.
CEO Paul Walsh says the aim of the conference is to present speakers and topics based on what the autism community wants to hear.
“We’re very excited to have a strong education theme, as well as the arts and occupational therapy as our keynote discussions.”
He says embracing neurodiversity is important in society at large, and especially in the classroom.
“We’re looking forward to the Education Accord and seeing changes in growth and how education is delivered in the classroom in an inclusive setting.”
The conference takes place on Wednesday, May 21st.
