Preparations for an annual fundraiser for ovarian cancer later this year are well underway in the metro region, driven by the personal experiences of its organizers.
The 2025 Walk of Hope is taking place on September 7th, beginning at the Manuel’s River Interpretation Centre in Conception Bay South.
Co-chair Marina Whitten’s mother was diagnosed with the disease in 2013, and she passed away about a year later.
Whitten says change needs to happen to prevent such a loss from impacting other families.
She says it is important to raise awareness and funds for early detection and also to educate women on what signs to look for.
