The provincial government presented their annual teaching awards recently, and for one educator, it was the perfect way to cap off a 30-year career.
A total of nine teachers were honoured at the event, with two receiving a Premier’s award and the others receiving a minister’s award.
Janice Spencer, who teaches at Corner Brook Regional High, was presented with a minister’s award. She is retiring this year after three decades of teaching, and to receive such an honour at the end of her career is something she calls “just lovely.”
Spencer describes what stands out to her the most from her career.
She says the relationships she has built with her students are what sticks out the most, noting that her favourite part about teaching is seeing students outside the classroom and hearing how their lives are going.
