Thee will be a race for mayor in the province’s west coast city.
Deputy Mayor Linda Chaisson plans to challenge Mayor Jim Parsons for the top job.
Mayor Parsons is in his second term.
Chaisson says they have been able to get a lot of big-ticket items done but the largest, a new water treatment plant, is tops on her list.
She noted the completion of the Redmond Centre and the resurfacing of the soccer field as great achievements, but wastewater treatment is number one on the agenda.
Parsons says despite having difficult councils to work with for the past two terms, they have accomplished a lot.
He says municipal politics is different from provincial and federal, but you have to work through it and look for the greater good for the people.
