School’s out! Today is the last day of classes for K-12 students across Newfoundland and Labrador.
Students will receive their report cards today and, in most cases, will be heading home early as their summer break officially begins.
Education Minister Bernard Davis has a simple message for teachers at the conclusion of another school year.
“Thank you,” says Davis, noting that teaching is a challenging job—but they have made a “massive” difference in the lives of their students.
Davis says the main message for students is to be safe and to pay attention when out near roadways.
RNC Constable James Cadigan says it’s important for drivers to be extra vigilant as there will be kids out and about at all times of the day—not just before and after school.
“Be careful around parks, soccer fields, ballfields—places like that,” says Cadigan. “Reduce speeds and be aware of your surroundings.”
