The annual Best Kind BBQ kicks off today at St. David’s Park in Mount Pearl.
The annual event, which features music, food, art and games, has become a popular summer mainstay for the city.
Organizer Brent Mac describes the event as a “little bit of everything.”
Mac says the festival actually started out as a project known as the Random Sound Music Festival.
He says they wanted to build a multi-day, multi-genre event. He says the vision changed a bit over the years and in 2017 they “locked in” on the Best Kind BBQ concept, which added in other features in addition to the music. Mac says once the city of Mount Pearl heard of what they were doing they were “all for it” and since 2019 they have been holding the event in St. David’s Park.
