A man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly sped away from police on an ATV in St. Jacques last Wednesday.
The RCMP say they first noticed the driver, identified as 19-year-old Lewis Keeping, driving on the roadway without a helmet just before 1 p.m.
Police attempted to pull the man over, but he sped away at a high rate of speed. In the interest of public safety, they did not pursue.
Less than an hour later, officers noticed the accused driving along the roadway once again, still without a helmet. He attempted to flee but was safely apprehended as a second police car arrived.
Keeping has been charged with flight from police and will appear in court at a late. As well, he was ticketed for not having a license, registration, and insurance, and for driving the ATV without a helmet.
