The provincial government is asking people to limit travel along the Bay d’Espoir Highway in central Newfoundland due to the ongoing wildfire situation.
The Martin Lake blaze has been burning now for nearly a week, and is currently about 265 hectares in size.
While the highway has not been closed, government advises that changes in wildfire activity could cause that to change with little notice.
An evacuation advisory is currently in effect for the Martin Lake, Great Rattling Brook and Rushy Pond areas, and people have been advised to leave the area.
