Premier John Hogan will provide an update on the wildfire situation in the province, including the new blaze burning near Paddy’s Pond, at 7:15 p.m.
The new fire quickly spread earlier this afternoon, with crews being pulled from other fires in the province to try to contain it.
Smoke quickly filled the air throughout the metro region, prompting officials to warn about air quality.
