The 2025 Canada Games wrap up this weekend with the official closing ceremonies tomorrow.
Paralympic medalist Katarina Roxon is not competing but is a member of the board of directors.
Roxon says despite some of the incredible challenges that occurred at the same time, the games are being touted as a success.
“Overall, they’re having the best time,” says Roxon of the athletes in this year’s games. “And we are so glad we could put on such an amazing games. Regardless of their results, regardless of the weather, regardless of fires, regardless of strikes, whatever the case may be, they are truly enjoying themselves. I don’t know how many people I heard from saying this is something to remember.”
Roxon, who competed in the 2005 and 2009 Canada Games before going on to the Paralympics, says the sporting event is a huge stepping stone for young athletes.
“Every single one of them will go on to bigger and better things. To go to the Paralympics, going to the Olympics, it’s huge, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for them.”
