RCMP in Holyrood have arrested two people – both of whom are well-known to law enforcement – on a number of serious charges.
RCMP were called to the Conception Bay Highway in Holyrood on Tuesday after a concerned citizen noticed a vehicle with extensive front-end damage and two people who appeared to be asleep inside.
When police arrived, they discovered that the SUV in question had been reported stolen.
Forty-two-year-old Felicia Pynn and 38-year-old Matthew Scott were arrested, and a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a variety of drugs, stolen property, and drug paraphernalia.
The search resulted in the seizure of:
- a quantity of cocaine,
- a quantity of methamphetamine,
- a quantity of benzodiazepine,
- a quantity of hydromorphone,
- a quantity of methylphenidate (commonly known as Ritalin),
- a quantity of cannabis,
- various quantities of illicit tablets,
- various weapons and ammunition,
- stolen property, including tools, cheques and bank cards,
- cash, and
- drug paraphernalia and other items consistent with drug trafficking.
Both Scott and Pynn are each facing a long list of drug and weapons charges, as well as charges related to drug trafficking and possession of stolen goods.
The charges against each of them include:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000,
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000,
- Resist or obstruct a peace officer,
- Carry a prohibited weapon in a careless manner,
- Possession of a firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in a motor vehicle,
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon,
- Possession of a prohibited weapon knowing possession unauthorized,
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
- Carrying a concealed weapon,
- Possession of weapon contrary to order,
- Possession of break-in instruments,
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance – Cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance – Hydromophone.
Both were held in custody pending court appearances. The investigation continues, and more charges are possible.
