The provincial government is pleased with the outcome of requests for judicial recounts in three districts.
Justice Fonse Faour denied recounts in the districts of Lewisporte-Twillingate and Placentia-West Bellevue, but agreed to go ahead with one in Topsail-Paradise due to alleged improper ballots.
That means Mark Butt, who defeated Liberal incumbent Derek Bennett by just 18 votes, and the PC incumbent in Placentia West-Bellevue, Jeff Dwyer, can finally be sworn in to the House of Assembly.
The provincial government says it is also optimistic that once the judicial recount in Topsail-Paradise is complete, it can have all its caucus sworn in and “ready to go” for the next sitting of the House of Assembly.
