A tragedy which resonated throughout the entire province and resulted in an inquiry will be marked this evening.
It was 17 years ago today that Cougar Flight 491 crashed into the Atlantic, resulting in the deaths of 17 of the 18 people on board.
Energy NL says the oil and gas industry has taken steps to improve safety, but that doesn’t bring back the 17 people who were en route to the oil rigs.
Eastern Chaplaincy will host a memorial service tonight at the Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle on Kenmount Road. The service will be livestreamed.
