The Canada Revenue Agency says it’s doing away with drop boxes for tax filing and payments after this tax season.
Currently, Newfoundland and Labrador has two drop boxes, both in St. John’s, with one on Empire Avenue and another at the Sir Humphrey Gilbert building downtown.
There are 45 drop box locations across the country.
CRA says use of drop boxes has declined by nearly 78 per cent nationally over the past six years, leaving just half a million Canadians making use of them in the 2024-25 fiscal.
The agency says residents can file their returns electronically, drop them in the mail, or make in-person payments at Canada Post.
