A man whose name is synonymous with real estate in the province and whose family members made an indelible mark on provincial politics has passed away.
Tom Osborne Sr., who served three terms on city council, served as President of the St. John’s Real Estate Board and was its longest-serving member with a 56-year career.
He was a director of the Canadian Real Estate Association, served as a Canadian citizenship judge, sat on the board of the St. John’s Port Authority, served as chair of the Canada Day celebrations and was chair of the Pippy Park Commission.
His wife of 64 years, Sheila, was an MHA in the legislature and his son, Tom Osborne Jr., is an MP with a lengthy past career as an MHA.
Tom Osborne Sr was 86.
