The Prime Minister says Canada is making continued progress in diversifying trade agreements beyond the United States.
Mark Carney spoke to the Halifax Chamber of Commerce this morning outlining the ways in which Ottawa has been working to move away from its traditional reliance on an increasingly erratic United States.
Carney says as much as possible, Canada will build federal infrastructure using Canadian suppliers.
Meanwhile, the federal government is diversifying its trading partnerships abroad.
“Our mission is to double our non-U.S. exports, $300 billion in new trade. We’ve already secured 20 trade and security partnerships on four continents in less than a year.”
