Dentists and the provincial government have a new agreement to take effect Wednesday, and last until 2030.
The agreement covers dental work for children and adults, as well as surgical procedures. Government will spend $250,000 to retain the 10 dentists who are working in under-serviced areas, and is also increasing by $250,000 the budget for the Rural Dental Bursary Program. That measure will allow an additional five recipients to be added annually, bringing the total to 15 dentists per year who will practice in under-serviced areas.
Other measures cover the extraction of any tooth through the Adult Dental Program when the extraction is done by a general dentist. Details will be unveiled over the next few days.
