The Premier says Prime Minister Mark Carney has his “full support” as the provinces maintain a “united Team Canada approach” to its trade dispute with the United States.
Premier Tony Wakeham posted yesterday that the province stands firmly with Team Canada.
He also offered his thanks to the federal government’s negotiating team for their work and decisions in navigating discussions “with an unpredictable partner.”
He and the premiers of Ontario, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia backed a firm response, while Alberta Premier Danielle Smith warned that retaliatory tariffs could raise costs for Canadian farmers.
What economic impact the 50 per cent tariffs the United States has imposed on a wide range of Canadian goods will have on local industry remains to be seen.
