A new in-depth report from the Canadian Mental Health Association shows that no jurisdiction in the country is spending enough on mental health.
And residents receive drastically different care depending on their home province or territory with those in rural and remote areas missing out on badly needed services.
Chandra Kavanaugh, CEO of the N.L. chapter of the Canadian Mental Health Association, says technological innovation in the field is a bright spot for Newfoundland and Labrador as it allows people easier access to single-service options.
Kavanagh, who was in Ottawa for the release of the report, says we have to do a better job of providing equality across the county regardless of place of residency.
