The Archbishop of St. John’s will be reflecting on his time spent with Pope Francis during tomorrow’s funeral for the late pontiff.
Francis died early Monday of a stroke after battling pneumonia for the past few weeks.
He was 88.
Thousands have filed past the open coffin at the Vatican this week in the leadup to the funeral.
The viewings even continued overnight to accommodate the vast numbers of mourners.
The funeral is scheduled to begin around 5:30 a.m. Newfoundland time tomorrow, and the Archbishop of St. John’s, Peter Hundt, will be watching and reflecting.
“He shared with us in a way that I thought was very pastoral, very much like a parish priest, about difficult moral issues that you deal with in a parish in terms of people that are there, struggling to live the faith,” he said. “So that’s certainly, for me, one of my own personal memories of him.”
