A goaltender from Bay Roberts has signed an entry-level contract with the Minnesota Wild of the NHL.
Riley Mercer, the brother of New Jersey Devil Dawson Mercer, inked a three-year contract to take effect next season.
Mercer, who’s 21, set new career bests this season with Drummondville of the QMJHL for GAA and save percentage. He led the league in save percentage, tied for first in shutouts with five, was third in GAA, fifth in saves and tied for seventh in wins.
Mercer is the franchise leader in several categories.
