Police arrested and charged two men from Grand Falls-Windsor following a dramatic sequence of events that started in Bay Bulls and ended with the crash of a pickup truck on Pitts Memorial Tuesday night near the downtown.
Ferryland RCMP responded to a break in at a commercial property in Bay Bulls around 9:00 Tuesday night. The suspect vehicle, a Ford F-150 was located by officers speeding away from the scene.
Police tried to pull the truck over, but the vehicle sped off in a dangerous manner. It was last seen heading east on the Trans Canada. RCMP notified the RNC, who confirmed that the pickup crashed on Pitts and the suspects ran from the scene.
RCMP and RNC officers chased the two suspects on foot, arresting them without further incident.
Forty-four-year-old Grant Payne and 42-year-old Matthew Payne, both from Grand Falls-Windsor, are each facing charges of break and enter, flight from police, dangerous driving and breach of a release order. Matthew Payne is facing an additional breach charge.
The investigation continues.
