Tomorrow is World Oceans Day and local residents can take part in a number of events planned throughout the province.
This year’s theme is Waves of Change: Sustaining our Ocean and Climate.
Residents are invited to take part in a free, all-ages celebration today at the Marine Institute on Ridge Road from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Dawn Mercer, Chair of the NL World Oceans Day Committee says there will be lots to see and do at the event, including an underwater vehicle people can use, touch tanks, exploring fisheries boats, tattoos and crafts.
Meanwhile virtual interactive events are also taking place including a beachcombing guide, recitations and songs.
The Johnson Geo Centre is also marking the occasion with a series of events.
