More than a dozen licensed cannabis stores opened across the province last fiscal year, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Liquor Corporation says sales have jumped by 16 per cent.
The province has continued to see massive growth in cannabis sales since it was legalized.
CEO Bruce Keating says they’ve been focused on filling gaps in locations that don’t have cannabis stores nearby.
He says some people may have turned to illegal cannabis due to the far proximity of legal stores. They’re hoping people will now turn to legal Health Canada-approved cannabis.
