The provincial government has begun a review of the Children, Youth, and Families Act – which guides the delivery of child protection, in-care, and youth services programs.
A review of that legislation is required once every five years.
Government says the review will focus on things like child welfare practices with people who are Indigenous, permanency planning for young people in need of protection, the outcomes of young people in care, the transition to adulthood, and information sharing.
A public engagement process on the legislation is now underway, including an EngageNL survey and written submissions.
Submissions are being accepted until July 18th.
