There will be an added layer of emotion surrounding the Marystown Pride Parade this year as it will be held in memory of a local drag performer who died suddenly last year.
Jonathan Nichol, who was originally from Marystown, passed away last fall.
The performer gained popularity under the drag name Reign Michaels, mainly performing throughout the St. John’s region.
During this year’s pride parade, Nichol’s mom, Roxanne Stacey, will be this year’s guest speaker and will share words of “remembrance, love, and hope.”
The Marystown pride parade is taking place on June 13th at 6:30 beginning at the farmers market.
