Progressive Conservative Leader Tony Wakeham has made two key health care promises while on a campaign trip to Labrador.
Wakeham committed to placing a new MRI machine, along with the staff needed to operate it, in Labrador. This contrasts with the current government’s plan to expand MRI capacity by adding two new machines at the ambulatory care hub in St. John’s.
Additionally, the PC leader pledged to fully cover travel costs for patients requiring essential medical care.
Wakeham argues these initiatives would reduce wait times and ease the financial burden many people in the region face when accessing health care.
A provincial election must be held on or before October 14.
