The provincial government has announced that one-time emergency financial assistance of $500 will be given to each household ordered to be evacuated this year due to a wildfire.
Public Safety Minister John Haggie says the funding will be distributed through the Canadian Red Cross.
The money is being made available to all households ordered to leave during the current wildfire, as well as those ordered to leave in Musgrave Harbour on July 20th, Badger on June 18th, and the communities of Small Point-Adam’s Cove-Blackhead-Broad Cove and Western Bay on May 7th.
Eligible households must meet certain criteria to receive the funding.
