The St. John’s Regional Fire Department is advising residents of the capital city and surrounding area to keep windows and doors closed and turn off air exchangers and HVAC units to help reduce indoor smoke exposure.
People are being asked to contact 811 or see a health care provider if you experience any concerning symptoms like severe cough, shortness of breath heart palpitations or wheezing due to the smoke.
Residents are asked to stay up to date by monitoring Environment Canada’s air quality index.
