An update is coming tomorrow on charges laid in connection with Project Bourbon, an RCMP investigation involving what’s believed to be the largest seizure of cocaine and contraband tobacco in the province’s history.
The investigation was launched in February of 2023, focused on crime groups who were trafficking cocaine from British Columbia, and contraband tobacco from Ontario, into Newfoundland and Labrador.
Items seized included 20.5 kilograms of cocaine, and 950 cases of contraband tobacco including 9.5 million cigarettes.
The investigation involved searches at homes in the metro area including Cape Pine Street, Thomas Street and Critch’s Path, as well as a garage and utility trailer on Calver Avenue and a tractor-trailer at a business on Torbay Road.
RCMP Inspector David Emberley will provide an update and answer questions from reporters at 11:00 tomorrow morning at RCMP Headquarters on East White Hills Road.
VOCM News will be there.
