Today is municipal election day in St. John’s.
Postal workers went on strike the day after the deadline for getting ballots in the mail, leaving many mail kits stuck in limbo.
Voters can check online to see if their ballot was received. If it is not, they can vote in-person at a number of locations around the city, and mail kits can be dropped off at drop boxes at St. John’s city hall and a number of other locations.
Meanwhile, a municipal recount for the final seat in a closely contested race in Marystown has been completed.
The initial difference between Georgina Brushett and Kayla Coady was just four votes. However, after the recount, the margin has increased to seven votes.
Council will be sworn in on October 21st.
