The provincial government is vowing not to increase the provincial taxation rate on gas and diesel.
The previous government cut the provincial component of taxes charged on gas and diesel in half, a break due to expire at the end of March.
Finance Minister Craig Pardy says he has no plans to increase the tax, and plans on making the reduced taxation rate permanent.
He says while the previous government reduced the gas tax as an affordability measure there was no commitment that it would not increase again in March. Pardy says they’re now working to ensure that the current rate remains permanent.
