A local cheerleading squad is off to Orlando, Florida next month to defend their world championship title at the ICU World Cheerleading Championships.
Coastal Wave Elite is the province’s first, and only, special abilities cheerleading team.
Ava Walsh has been part of the cheerleading team for some time and is very excited about the opportunity to defend their championship title. She says she practices every Saturday for two hours, and never gets tired of it, she enjoys it that much.
Julia Crocker has been part of the team for the last eight years and participated in the worlds last year. She says it’s amazing to think that only eight years ago the team “wasn’t even a thing” and now they’re being invited to participate among the best in the world, not once, but twice.
