Nunatsiavut is sending an official delegation to the 2026 Arctic Winter Games in Whitehorse, Yukon for the first time ever.
The Nunatsiavut Government says while there have been previous individual attempts by Labrador Inuit to engage in the games, this is the first initiative that has been formally led and supported by them.
Acting Minister of Language, Culture and Tourism, David Dicker Junior, says attending the Arctic Winter Games will allow them to understand what is required to successfully bring a Nunatsiavut team in future.
The Labrador delegation includes two youth cultural performers who have been invited to participate in the event’s International Cultural Showcase.
