A nice day weather-wise is shaping up across the island, but things become unsettled in the latter half of the week.
Environment Canada meteorologist Dale Foote says a large system will move through Thursday and into Friday.
As Foote explains, it will be a mixed bag for the island.
He says a winter storm watch is in effect for western and central. In those areas he says they could see 15 to 25 cm of snow, including a period of ice pellets and freezing rain for central and the Great Northern Peninsula.
Foote says there is a special weather statement in effect for rain for the south coast for Thursday, which will likely be expanded to the southern Avalon for Friday.
He says there is also a special weather statement for eastern Newfoundland, which will see a mix of snow, freezing rain and ice pellets on Thursday.
