Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services has started the process of replacing their CT scanner at the Health Sciences.
The work to replace the machine began on Tuesday.
To reduce the impact on patients, NLHS says a mobile CT unit is being installed at the Child Rehabilitation entrance at the Janeway, noting that the entrance will be modified to protect patients from the elements while accessing the machine.
Outpatient CT appointments will take place at the mobile unit as of Monday, March 30th.
Signage will be put up to direct people to alternate entrances during this time.

Replacement of the machine came up during Question Period in the House of Assembly today.
Liberal Lisa Dempster asked Health Minister Lela Evans to confirm that the scanner at the Health Science is down, and that there’s a timeline for it to be back up and running.
Evans argued that during their 10 years in power, the Liberals let many pieces of equipment fall into disrepair. She says they wouldn’t be in this situation if the former government had a plan in place to maintain equipment.
Before asking her next question, Dempster questioned why the public wasn’t notified about the replacement of the machine sooner.
