The hammer has come down on the teams involved in that St. John’s Junior Hockey League brawl in the Goulds on the weekend.
Hundreds of minutes in penalties were handed out, and the game was called before the clock ran out.
The Southern Shore Breakers were hosting the St. John’s Caps when the melee broke out. The Caps were awarded the game, and moved on to the next round of the playoffs while the Breakers’ season came to an end.
Twelve players and the head coach of the Breakers were suspended for a total of 45 games, which will be served at the beginning of next season while six Capitals players will sit out a total of eight games during the playoffs.
No financial penalties were administered.
The RNC are investigating the incident.
