The provincial government will build a new school on the Conception Bay north shore to replace Cabot Academy in Western Bay.
The school was destroyed by a wildfire last summer, along with nearly 200 other structures.
Many homes have yet to be repaired or rebuilt.
Government is trying to determine the size and specifications, as well as possible remediation of the old site.
Work is expected to start next year, with no timeline on when the doors will open.
Students from Cabot Academy are being accommodated in other schools for the time-being.
