Operations at New York’s LaGuardia Airport are suspended until at least this afternoon as investigators arrive at the scene of last night’s deadly crash involving an Air Canada Jazz plane and a fire truck.
The pilots were killed when the plane collided with the vehicle after landing just before midnight.
Most of the 41 passengers and crew members taken to hospital have been released. Nine people remain hospitalized with serious injuries.
An air traffic controller was captured on tape saying “I messed up” in the moments after the crash.
Air Canada has since released a statement saying it is deeply saddened by the loss of the two pilots.
Air Canada and Jazz Aviation teams will be on site in New York today and will be working with investigators from both countries.
