The Opposition says it can’t determine whether government got a good deal on a Benefits Agreement on Equinor’s Bay du Nord project unless the details are made public.
Leader John Hogan reiterated that many in the province are in the dark about what the Benefits Agreement entails and he’s urging government to release the details publicly.
“You compare it to the Churchill Falls deal,” Hogan told VOCM Open Line. “We released that agreement the day it was signed, we debated it in the House of Assembly, we were very open and transparent about what the deal was…it was a deal to get a final deal.”
“They’re saying the deal on Bay du Nord is final…it hasn’t been sanctioned by Equinor, and that’s Equinor’s decision, but this is the deal between our government – Newfoundlanders and Labradorians – and Equinor, and we haven’t seen it.”
