A former Liberal cabinet minister hopes that the PC government follows through on a health care commitment that his administration made last year on the south coast.
Elvis Loveless, who represents Fortune Bay-Cape La Hune, met with the health minister early in the new year to press upon her the need for an extension of the medical centre in Harbour Breton. Loveless hopes Premier Tony Wakeham continues with their plans for a 10-bed extension onto the centre.
He says just because people live in isolated communities doesn’t mean that they should have less in terms of health care.
“…to be used mostly as long-term care accommodations and acute care,” says Loveless. “I’m hoping that they move ahead with that because they have said that we need more long-term care beds. It’s a very important announcement for that whole region,” says the MHA.
