The executive director of the Atlantic Police Academy says they’re doing what they can to meet the need for police recruits right across Canada.
Eighteen new constables were sworn-in to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s ranks yesterday.
The new recruits trained at the Atlantic Police Academy in PEI.
Executive director Jeff Minten says every police agency in the country is looking for new recruits, and the academy has been trying to open as many seats as possible to meet demand.
“We’ve doubled the size of our class. We offer two (intakes), trying to meet that need. Hopefully we’re making a dent, but it’s definitely there. And it’s across all industry, across the police and across the country.”
