Four men charged in connection with two separate homicides in the capital city just before Christmas were back before a judge today.
The unrelated homicides occurred just a few weeks apart, and a few blocks away from each other in the Rabbittown area of St. John’s.
Peter Campbell, Darryl Little and Doug Yetman, in custody at HMP, are charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 41-year-old man on December 21st.
The victim was found in a house next to Shoppers Drug Mart on Empire Avenue — a house which was gutted by fire last month.
With the issue of counsel for the trio now settled, attention has turned to receiving and reviewing all of the evidence against them.
Court was told today that there’s still more to come from investigators, with an update expected when the case is called again on May 14th.
Aldershot Street murder case also heard in court
The same can be said for the case against Matthew Delaney, charged with first- and second-degree murder in the stabbing deaths of two men, aged 38 and 53.
Their bodies were found back on December 1st in a home on Aldershot Street.
Delaney remains in custody at the West Coast Correctional Centre in his hometown of Stephenville, where he has racked up previous convictions for robbery, assault and court breaches.
Court heard there are more than 200 pages of evidence still to review, as well as forensic and video statements.
An update on the progress of those issues is expected when Delaney’s case is called again on April 30th.
