The provincial transportation minister did not take kindly to criticism from an MHA on the Burin Peninsula in the House of Assembly yesterday.
Paul Pike presented a petition calling on government to pave the highway from Little Bay East to Harbour Mille as “it has not been done in 35 years.”
He told the legislature that the previous Liberal government had a four-year plan for the road, but that nothing was included in the PC roads budget for the area this year.
Minister Barry Petten put the onus on the Liberals for the deterioration of the highway in response to Pike.
He called Pike “disingenuous” for “lecturing” the PCs who are only half a year in power, after the Liberals ruled for ten years.
