RNC say more charges are anticipated after three teens – one of whom is only 13 years old – were arrested and charged in connection with a violent attack in Cowan Heights earlier this week.
A 19-year-old man was sent to hospital last Tuesday evening after a group of people attacked him, some of whom were using chains to beat him.
The man managed to get to the nearby McDonald’s from where police, paramedics and his family were called.
Two 17-year-olds have been charged with assault, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, robbery and breaches while the 13-year-old has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and robbery.
The victim’s mother is speaking out about the escalation in violence in the capital city area in recent years.
Kayla Wiseman says government, law enforcement and the justice system need to do more.
“There’s no reason why anybody should have to suffer and live in silence and fear because of the criminal acts and the terrorism and the drugs on our streets.”
The incident was so shocking, it was also raised in the House of Assembly.
