A St. John’s businessman says he’s pleased that city council is willing to work with him on an indoor amusement park on Kenmount Road.
An application is now before the city for the facility, to be known as Magic Island, at the old Previously Loved thrift store building.

The process has hit a snag, however; the city requires 90 parking spaces and there are only 60 spaces on site.
City staff recommended that the application be rejected, but council opted to defer a decision for two weeks to explore solutions to the parking problem.
Kevin Zhao says he was pleased with council’s response because they are supportive of the idea and want to work with him.
A proposed new indoor adventure park on Kenmount Road is currently stuck in limbo at City Hall.
The businessman behind the project, Kevin Zhao, is hoping to open a major new recreation facility, but city staff are pushing back over a lack of parking.
