Driver’s throughout Newfoundland and Labrador can now renew the photo on their license through an online system.
Government services minister Lloyd Parrott was in Clarenville today to reveal how the process works.
People will receive a reminder 90 days before their photo is set to expire, which will include information about how to use the service.
Then, people can log in to their MyGovNL account and use their cell phone, tablet or computer’s camera to complete the renewal process.
A checklist will be provided to ensure photos meet requirements for things like lighting, facial expression, position, and the removal of things like glasses and hats.
A “real-time verification process” will be used to confirm that the photo was taken a the time of submission and that it matches the photo already on file with motor registration.
All photos will continue to be reviewed by staff prior to a new license being issued.
